The Ultimate Vegetarian Protein Burger

Vegetarian food doesn't have to be boring.

Try this delicious vegetarian protein burger.


1 can of chickpeas

500 g mushrooms

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

¼ teaspoon onion powder

2 tablespoons cake flour (or flour of choice)

½ cup panko breadcrumbs

1 egg


  1. Drain, rinse and mash the chickpeas either by hand or in a food processor, depending on the desired burger texture. 
  2. Stir in the mushrooms and form the patties. Let the patties rest for 30 minutes in a fridge.
  3. Place the flour, egg and breadcrumbs in three separate bowls. 
  4. Start coating the patties in flour, followed by the egg mixture. 
  5. Cover the patties with the breadcrumbs and pan-fry them, flipping halfway through cooking. Do the same on the other side. 
  6. Serve on a bun with lettuce, tomato and onion.
