It’s time to get rid of the ‘new year, new me’ mindset and focus on what you really want for yourself in the new year. The quality of food you consume directly influences the quality of life in every cell of your body. If you follow a healthy diet, you will not only feel physically better, but your mental health will also improve.

The food we consume influences our gut health, directly affecting our physical and mental health. Our gut contains 90% of our serotonin receptors (i.e. mood regulators that influence neurological processes such as anxiety, joy, sleep, and aggression).

It might seem challenging, but if you fuel your body with healthy food, it will directly impact all the other decisions in your life. Start with one small change at a time—such as opting for a salad as a side dish instead of chips, drinking whey protein when you feel like snacking instead of eating a chocolate, or only having healthy ingredients available in your kitchen. There will always be various food options to choose from; you just have to make the right choice.


Move U

Most people know that exercise is good for their health but feel intimidated by the thought of starting a fitness journey. Whether you realise it or not, you already exercise daily—you walk, breathe, stretch, bend and lift.

Regular physical activity can help manage weight, strengthen muscles and bones, reduce the risk of various diseases, lower stress levels, boost brain health, and enhance your ability to do normal daily activities.

If you do not know where to start, just intensify the level of physical activity that you already do throughout the day. Make small changes: take the stairs instead of the lift, walk to a co-worker’s office instead of sending an email, or park further away from a destination.

If you choose to make exercise part of your daily routine in 2024, you will automatically feel lighter—physically and mentally.
