TEAM USN PAINT PROJECTS FAST ONE RACE REPORT
Thu, 02 February 2012
The father and son team of Rod & Ian Gilley from Constantia Kloof and Dainfern respectively continued with their cycling success in last Sunday’s 106km “Fast One” race starting in Meyerton. This race is recognised as one of the fastest races on the SA Calender and had ± 3500 entries.

Ian (39 years) was as usual seeded in Category A. Early on there was a break away group, who were progressively reeled in by the chasing peleton until at the finish line only four remained, with Ian placed in the following group of 8 cyclists who crossed the line together, all of whom were awarded the identical finishing time of 2:48:43s.

Rod (65 years) also followed his success from the previous race – "The Momentum 94.7”; again finishing first in his starting group of 203 cyclists with his winning time of 2:47:22; over 17 minutes in front of the second placed man, and first in his age group.

The Gilley’s "Team USN – PAINT PROJECTS” next road cycle race on the team’s busy race programme is the Carnival City 106km race at the end of February, before the teams entry in the 800km Cape Epic 8 Day Mountain Bike Stage Race in March, followed by the 9 day joBerg2C, 1000km Mountain Bike Stage Race in April.
