The reason why I started training:
I was always the smallest in my class and could not really compete against the bigger boys when it came to sports such as rugby. After school I fooled around in the gym, but it was in 1991, that I became a gym rat and soon realised that God had blessed me with good genetics for the sport of bodybuilding.
People who supported me through my career:
USN - My supplement sponsor since 1999. Without these supplements it would have been impossible to achieve these great heights. My No.1 Usn supplement is Dynamic Whey Protein - the best convenient way to maintain and recover muscle as well as to build lean Muscle.
My training partner, Eugene Daamen, who has been there for me in good and bad times and my wife, Elna, who makes sure that my meals are always prepared.
Last but not least, my daughters Lee and Zanli who are my biggest fans.
I train 5 days a week in my off season and 6 days a week during pre-contest. I love all my workouts, but I would say chest is my favourite body part to train, because my quad workouts are no joke! This year saw me achieving my goal of been crowned as the 2007 Middle Weight MR Universe.
My aspirations and goals for this year are to stay healthy and to be the best employee, father and husband and ultimately to win the Dischem Show in November 2008. Shaun Ray (now retired as a bodybuilder) is one of my sporting heroes because he is flawless and that is why he placed top 5 at Mr Olympia for 15 years in a row. He never worried about the freak show that was happening around him, and never sacrified his pleasant physique to be one of them.
